From the Driver's Seat - The 2014 Audi A5

There is a sexier alternative to the typical sedan, the 2014 Audi A5 two-door sport coupe, now on sale at Braman Audi in West Palm Beach.  This is the car for you if you're sure you need a back seat -- but find that you don't really use it very often.  It's also the car that proves that simplicity can be elegant with no extravagant design; just a few subtle curves create styling that really catches the eye.

The A5 is powered by the 2.0 TFSI turbocharged and direct-injected, four cylinder engine with horsepower increased to 220.  Standard equipment includes quattro all-wheel drive and is mated to either a six-speed manual transmission - which seamlessly launches from 0-60 MPH in 6.3 seconds - or an eight-speed Tiptronic transmission, which propels from 0-60 MPH in 6.1 seconds.

The A5 Cabriolet comes standard with a continuously variable multitronic transmission and front-wheel drive (0-60 MPH in 7.1 seconds), and is also offered with quattro all-wheel drive and an eight-speed Tiptronic transmission (0-60 MPH in 6.6 seconds).

Additional updates for the 2014 model year will include the availability of the Premium Plus packages as a standalone option, while the S-Line exterior package will be offered for all the A5 Prestige models. The S line competition package will continue to be offered on Premium Plus and Prestige A5 coupe, while a Black Optic package and new 19-inch Titanium Rotor wheels will be offered as an option.

There is also a new set of redesigned headlights, featuring new LED lighting design with xenon-plus lamps. On the rear, there is the same redesigned bumper and the redesigned taillights with the available LED technology.

The S line competition package is offered on Premium Plus and Prestige A5 coupes, including sport suspension; 19-inch Segment spoke wheels with Titanium finish; Brilliant Black exterior moldings, mirror housing and door sill blades; and a black rear diffuser.  A Black Optic package is now also available on A5 and S5 Premium plus and Prestige models.

The interior of the A5 and S5 is elegant and functional, with ample room for four. For the 2014 Model Year, the optional A5 S line Competition package features a three-spoke flat-bottom multifunction sport steering wheel; piano black inlays; leather/Alcantara front sport seats with S line embossing; black cloth headliner; Aluminum door sills with S line badging; and Aluminum shift knob (manual only).  New optional Layered Aluminum/Black wood inlays are also available for the 2014 S5.

The 2014 Audi A5 will be offered in three trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige, with prices ranging from $39,000 to $49,400.

Audi S5 and RS5

Joining the RS 5 coupe for 2015 is a new RS 5 Cabriolet - which combines track-tested engineering with the freedom of open air driving. 

The output of the S5's 3.0-liter TFSI engine remains unchanged at 333 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. Mated to a six-speed manual or seven-speed S tronic transmission, The S5 Coupe completes the 0-60 MPH sprint in 4.9 seconds.

The 3.0-liter S5 Cabriolet, mated to a seven-speed S tronic transmission, accelerates from 0-60 MPH in 5.3 seconds. The S5 Coupe and Cabriolet both come standard with quattro all- wheel drive.

Positioned above the S5 in Audi's A5 coupe lineup, the RS 5 is a high-performance 2+2 that backs up its menacing looks with a symphonious V8 and an advanced Quattro all-wheel-drive system. Not just about performance, the RS 5 also offers a stylish and well-trimmed interior.

While many competitors have turned to forced induction motors, the RS 5 makes use of a naturally aspirated 4.2-liter that produces 450 horsepower and revs all the way up to a lofty 8,300 rpm. Torque is rated at 317 lb-ft, and shifting duties are handled by a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. Fuel economy is rated at 16 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway, and Audi quotes a 4.5-second zero-to-60 mph sprint.
