2018 Audi A6 vs Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Audi and Mercedes-Benz are both brands that epitomize a sense of luxury and sophistication. They each bring cutting-edge technology, high-performing engines, and a comfortable cabin to the table.

Of course, Delray Beach, West Palm Beach, and Boynton Beach drivers may be wondering which comes out on top when you pit the 2018 Audi A6 vs. the Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

To find out, just read this review by the Audi West Palm Beach team.

Audi A6 vs Mercedes-Benz E-Class: Performance Specs

The Audi A6 has a lot in common with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, including its engine. Both aim for high power, as well as a sense of fuel economy, which is why they've adopted a turbocharged engine.

A turbo 4-cylinder is standard for both of these sedans. The difference is that the A6 employs its own Turbocharged Fuel Stratified Injection (TFSI®) system for a bit of extra oomph.

With TFSI®, the Audi A6 is able to produce as much as 252 horsepower. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class, on the other hand, peaks at 241 horsepower. That's close, but no cigar.

The same can be said for the gas mileage of each car. TFSI® allows the Audi A6 to maintain an EPA-estimated 25 MPG city and 34 MPG highway.1 The competitor, however, maintains only an EPA-estimated 22 MPG city and 30 MPG highway.

Room to Spare: Vehicle Dimensions

A car of this caliber is one you'll want to show off. One that you'll want to drive to work and take on your next road trip. So, it's going to need room.

In this respect, the Audi A6 and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class nearly meet each other tit for tat. Just take their front cabin space, for example.

Each sedan provides roughly 41 inches of legroom to stretch out in, as well as 37 inches of headroom.

The rear dimensions are just as close. So, where does the difference come in? The trunk.

The E-Class has just 13.1 cubic feet of trunk space, while the A6 has 14.1 cubic space. On trips where you may be carrying luggage or gear, that extra room is really going to come in handy.

Luxury Sedan Interior Comforts

Both these sedans are jam-packed with technologies and amenities to make your ride smoother and more entertaining.

Amenities such as Automatic Climate Control can create an extra comfortable atmosphere. The difference here is that the E-Class only offers up to an available three-zone climate control. The top available A6 system is four-zone for added climate nuance.

You'll also notice a difference between the sound systems available in these sedans. The A6 offers an upgrade to the Bose® Surround sound with AudioPilot® noise compensation.

The E-Class offers available Burmester® Premium Surround Sound. However, this lacks noise compensation features, which means that playback may not be as smooth or clear.
