Like many automakers, Audi posted their "Vampire Party" advertisement on YouTube days before the Super Bowl. Looking at the 4,544,443 You Tube views on the Monday after Super Bowl XLVI, it seems we weren't the only ones to click replay.

The ad promoting Audi LED headlamps, made car.com's "Top 10 Car Commercials or Super Bowl XLVI" list, TIMEOUT's "The Top 10 Super Bowl Commercials 2012", and the Christian Science Monitor's list of six best Super Bowl XLVI ads. Perhaps the biggest reason the ad resonated with drivers is for its in vampire theme. The fact it was lightly sardonic didn't hurt, either.

This ad also stands out for selling a feature rather than a car. Sure, the car driven in the ad is a new Audi A8, but the focus was clearly the A8's LED headlamps, which pierce into the night with daytime-like brightness. They're so bright in fact, they have the capacity to kill vampires.

Obviously Audi is using an analogy, not actually suggesting vampires exist. Beyond telling consumers about the improved nighttime visibility LEDs lend (something any safety-conscious driver who likes to exercise the full power of their new Audi can appreciate), the ad also speaks to the premium look of LED headlamps. LEDs also consume significantly less energy than traditional headlights.
