The track is anything but foreign to Audi. However, the majority of car buyers know the luxury automaker more for their quiet and sleek lineup, including the all new Audi A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, Q5. But, what Audi fans don't understand is that the memorable brand has not stopped making race history. Specifically, being the recent victory at the world-renowned Nurburgring 24-Hour Race.
The masterful driving of Marc Basseng, Christopher Haase, Frank Stippler and Markus Winkelhock in the R8 LMS Ultra lead the luxury automaker to victory. The Audi R8 LMS Ultra took not only first place at Nurburgring, but second place too. Possibly even more remarkable is the fact that there were no crashes or technical issues created by the luxury brand's mechanics. A clean race is a great example of that Audi integrity we are so very proud of.
We are not trying to gloat, but competition really needs to step it up a notch if they are planning on breaking Audi's winning streak anytime soon. The recent double win proceeds numerous additional victories the automaker earned over the past year. For example, Audi recently earned a top-tier podium finish at the the Bathurst 12-Hour races, Spa 24-Hour races and Zolder 24-Hour races.
Speaking on the first-ever overall victory at Nurburgring 24-Hours, Dieter Gass, Head of Racing Commitments, Audi Sport says, "We are absolutely delighted about this long-desired victory. For three years the Audi R8 LMS was always the Best GT3 car at Nurburgring. Now we have taken overall victory in the fight with seven other brands."1
