If you happen to be unfamiliar with e-tron family of Audi vehicles, we are not surprised. Since their debut in 2009, e-tron cars have only been available to our friends in Europe. Some recent news about this line of hybrid vehicles came at the Geneva Motor Show where the company used the opportunity to showcase the latest addition to this product line; the Audi A3 e-tron. Only two weeks later at the New York Auto Show Audi made the even bigger announcement that once the new A3 e-tron goes into production, it will be available for purchase in the United States.
This is news that we should all be excited about.
The Audi A3 e-tron is home to a host of exciting technologies that eco-savvy
consumers are sure to enjoy. Under the hood you will find a 1.4-liter
four-cylinder engine that is paired with an electric motor. Together these two
generators can create up to 204 horsepower and up to 258 pound-feet of torque.
Clearly, this is not your average hybrid.
According to Scott Keogh, president of Audi of America, "The Audi A3 will set the new benchmark among entry-level luxury sedans. This A3 line-up redefines the standards of its class in dynamics, efficiency, technology, craftsmanship and performance.1
