Regular routine maintenance is essential to keeping any car running well. If you want to avoid major repairs and ensure that your vehicle is still running like brand new even years down the line, then it's vital to have your oil changed regularly, with your fluid levels, engine and electronics reviewed at regular intervals.

It can, however, be confusing to understand how often you should have maintenance done and what needs to be done at each level. Keep this Audi S5 maintenance schedule nearby so that you can always be aware of when you need to get your car in for preventative work to avoid major issues.

Audi S5 Maintenance

Most auto manufacturers structure maintenance every 5,000 miles. It's a testament to Audi's engineering that, starting in model year 2017, the maintenance schedule for Audi vehicles has been extended to every 10,000 miles rather than 5,000. This means you'll need to schedule fewer trips to the service center, with less stress and worry on your part.

10,000 Miles or 12 months

Every 10,000 miles, or every 12 months (whichever comes first), you'll need to have your basic maintenance performed in your Audi S5. At this level, your mechanic will conduct routine checks - your oil and oil filter will be changed, your brake system will be checked for leaks, and the mechanic will check your pads, discs, calipers, vent caps and hoses. They'll also check out your cooling system.

Your tires will be rotated and a visual inspection will be done to make sure everything is properly sealed in the engine compartment. The Fuel Filter water separator will be emptied if need be, windshield washer fluid will be refiled, and AdBlue fluid will be checked and filled if necessary. Finally, your wiper blades can be replaced.

20,000 Miles or 2 Years

At every 20,000 miles or every 2 years, more major but still routine maintenance will need to be performed in your Audi S5. At this level, in addition to the basic 10,000 mile service, your service tech will go over your mechanical, safety and electrical systems. This includes safety systems like your active headrests for functionality. They'll check out your cabin air filters, your doors, lighting, dash and instrument cluster, your transmission and drive shaft systems, your exhaust system and engine performance.

A multi-point visual inspection will be done, and your MTF oil will be checked, refilled and replaced if necessary, as will your engine air cleaner.

Annual Ongoing Maintenance

These are essentially the two stages of maintenance that will be performed on an ongoing basis every year and every other year, at 10,000 and 20,000 mile increments respectively. On occasion, more major maintenance will be undertaken, like checking timing belts and hoses, but in general, this regular maintenance schedule will keep your Audi S5 running like new for many years to come.
